Sep 2012 – We are saddened by the passing of Steve Whyte recently.
Steve had been an active member on the Queensland Committee, as
Councillor and most recently Treasurer, as well as serving on the National
Council. His contributions to the foundry industry will be remembered.
We offer our condolences to Steve’s family.

May 2012 – The Energy Efficiency Roadshow has been very successful.
Watch this space for more information as it comes to hand.

Mar 2012 – AFI has an approved position on MT-001 (main committee), we are now
seeking nominations to fill the vacant position.  The person representing
the AFI will be elected by the AFI to represent the Australian Foundry
industry.  Our representatives on MT-001 should be a person with relevant
industry experience, be committed to representing the industry and the
interests of its members and be a financial member of the AFI.  Where
there is debate within a committee on and issue the AFI representatives
will argue and decision make on behalf of their industry.
Being part of Standards Australia is a very important opportunity for the
AFI particularly as we have one seat approved on MT-001.
AFI National will reimburse travel costs to the person agreeing to sit on
this committee on behalf of the AFI. Many of the meetings are conducted
via tele-conferencing and much of the communication to industry is
electronic. The National Secretary will provide as much support as
                  required to assist our representative.
The role of these representatives is twofold –
                  1. To represent the industry on behalf of the AFI
                  2. Identify persons with the best experience and knowledge for specific
                      projects.
All nominations must be sent via the State secretary (for confirmation
that the membership with the AFI is financial), then directed through
The National Secretary for council decision.  This item will be placed
on the Agenda for the May National Council meeting.  Please have
nominations through to your State Secretary by 2 May 2012.
Following nominations, if there are more than two, we will hold an election
                  for the final selected representatives.
Please use our contact form if you wish to nominate.
